Mobile communications company, Korek, participated in lighting up the largest flames on the summit of Korek Mountain, in the province of Erbil, for the celebration of Newroz.
Among the exciting and festive ambiance, Korek Mountain witnessed, on Saturday March 29th 2014 and during the afternoon, the biggest fire ever set; using 6000 wooden boards, an area of 125 square meters and 11 meters high, giving the flaming-torch area a 800 meter square-space.
Mr. Sirwan Mustafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Korek and Mr. Nawzad Hadi, Governor of Erbil, both participated in lighting the tall torch, which is considered the biggest of its kind, along with the participation of all of the U.S. and French consuls accredited in Kurdistan – Iraq.
A large crowd of citizens, foreign tourists, correspondents, news agencies and satellite channels shared the wonderful experience of celebrating Newroz, expressing their happiness in this unique and festive atmosphere.
This special occasion marks the first time such huge flames have been lightened during Newroz.
